Software Of The Month Club CDs

What has been a real nice part of my VintageAppleMac.com journey is the following that I’ve acquired on Twitter. I’ve been very fortunate to meet and interact with some really cool people on there and it often feels like a real neat and well-informed little retrocomputing community. So I was not surprised to receive a message from a really cool guy called Tyler who wanted to share a collection of Macintosh software he had archived; 17 Software Of The Month Club CDs.

Now, I’m a bit of a connoisseur for Macintosh shovelware, with a large collection of Mac magazine cover disks and 10s and 10s of gigabytes of downloaded CD images too, but I’ve never heard of the Software Of The Month Club. Turns out that it’s a series with a long and broad history, spanning pretty much all computer formats of the 80s and 90s. Amazing.

Software Of The Month Club Macintosh volumes

These are pretty neat CDs, with plenty of software on them. They’re actually hybrid discs, with separate Mac and PC volumes on each. I’ve duplicated the Macintosh volumes from them all and have uploaded to my site as Stuffit files. Get exploring!
